No, actually. There's law reasons for it but no you can't sue the gov in a civil case

Trump was successfully sued while still in office
But not for things while done in office. You can be sued as an individual but not in your capacity in your gov position is my understanding
The counter argument was that making defamatory or prejudicial statements about a person isn't part of the job of POTUS
You're not wrong but bc it's a gov official talking about a gov detainee my understanding is it would not fly as a case, like it would get dismissed on those grounds
Anything would be after the case resolution but even now statements from Trump could lead the judge to throw out the charges because of poisoning the jury pool. Defense requested the judge block Trump and DOJ from any additional public statements this morning.
I really struggle to comprehend that the Pres. of US can actually show a fake photo, spew lies about you (along with his admin) and not suffer consequences. None. This isn’t a lie about a political opponent or a policy just a common person. 🤯
And yes he was sued for statements made while he was in office
*person
Right but he wasn't talking about a pets being affected by the gov. It's all minutia but that's my understanding of it
