I must be misreading. You can’t be suggesting that Julius Caesar (d. 44 BCE) was connected to the “Battle of Hastings (1066).”

Correct. I am not suggesting that. I'm challenging the assertion that some Viking/Norman wars may be related solely to family squabbles by offering that non-students of history could jump to the same conclusion about the Romans if all they knew about Caesar and Pompey was that they were related.
