I think indivisible was only one group that organized protests, so maybe this count is only in their sponsored events?

I don’t think Indivisible is counting all protests. MSNBC just said hundreds of thousands, lol.
LOL Someone is in serious need of glasses! Or maybe a remedial math tutor?More likely just a wee bit sarcastic. Thanks 4 the chuckle 😃
AltNPS posts BS *a lot* I unfollowed them specifically because they failed my factchecking too many times. Hate to see they’re still doing it 🙄🙄🙄
Because they’re being lazy and scared to over count. So they are going with the same script as Hands Off.
Is it possible that Indivisible was counting numbers only at their own organized events and altntl included 50501 etc?
I don’t think so, but I wondered that, too.
Not all the protests were organized by Indivisible
Right, but my understanding is that their 5 million count was nationwide no matter who sponsored. Would be interested in hearing a reply from them.
I don’t tend to think AltNPS is very reputable.
Maybe not but 5 mil seems very low based on the reporting coming out. That would be an average of 2400 per protests. We had about 1k turn out in my teeny tiny rural purple town alone.
I also think 5 million sounds low, but 11 million sounds too high. Just curious about the wide discrepancy.
Doesn’t sound too high to me. We’d need an average turnout of 220,000 per state and we know some cities had over 100,000 at one event. I live in Maine and we had 51 events planned. My tiny rural town had at least 1k out. 11 mil isn’t crazy.
There were protests with 100,000 plus.
Exactly!
My understanding is that they’re quite reputable.
They are - folks just think cynicism is critical thought when it’s just intellectual laziness.
They may be a group that does good work for all I know, but when the social presence starts doing QAnon style cryptic posting, I think it’s fair to question the validity of information posted on the account.
Do you understand why they are posting like this? If not maybe take the time to learn.
Well I am closely connected and have dozens of close friends in the federal govt who now have to talk in code so it’s actually a thing. Maybe don’t assume and do the fucking research.
And when I say I have friends in the feds, I don’t mean rank and file. You have no idea the heat that we are dealing with in DC.
They are the best and most reliable account. And god bless you for what you do!
I’ve looked for what’s verifiable about the alt nps and found little. Do you have a suggestion of where I should start this research?
And my dad works at Nintendo.
Dude fuck off. Cynicism isn’t a personality.
Well I've seen enough, and @siekmang.com and @siekmangtest.bsky.social are now on my blocked list.
@altnps.bsky.social
YES they are just bullshit artirsts but where on earth does indivisibles number come from they don't give any inforation on where this came from and it sounds high to me
www.gelliottmorris.com/p/no-kings-d... This is someone who came to the same estimate at Indivisible.
I think they are working off the same data, a google spreadsheet maintained by the crowd counting group at harvard The Gov of PA issued a proclamation saying 100,000 marched; so I thought, take the data docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
and sort if by state and then we can get a *very rough check but my excel skills are so or the format of the data entry webform webform is so bad, that I was unable to sort the data by state (!) I did check one random data point, for the lehigh valley; the source is a URL that leads to a local
source, which quotes estimates from organizers so I would really take these numbers with a grain of salt but I am a cantakerous old guy who thinks the glass is half empty
They are National Parks Officials that have been closely monitoring the attendance. I don't think Indivisibles numbers are accurate. They may be based on who RSVPed, or where their specific protests were held.
lol - I promise you that in DC they are considered very reputable.
AFAIK, they are National Parks Officials that have been closely monitoring the attendance. I don't think Indivisibles numbers are accurate. They may be based on who RSVPed, or where their specific protests were held.
