I think the point is 2 let go of the 👉 fantasies & address our history more honestly, which would include addressing racism, misogyny/patriarchy, classism, violence… Let’s tell the whole story vs. provide cover that perpetuates these issues. This is a source of ongoing pain & harm 4 many of us.

...what we have to deal with: a long list at both home and abroad. I can suggest solutions all day long, and high among them is learning from the past - both good and bad aspects of it - and not living in it or internalizing it to the point of hatred and derision born from "ongoing pain and harm."

Hard 2 learn from the past when the past isn’t portrayed accurately. People suffering ongoing harm are not doing so bc they have an internalization problem; the ongoing harm is due 2 ongoing harm… Many of us can & do offer solutions. Who gets listened to? Anger is sometimes warranted & not pathology
