As a fellow American, this has been the most bitter pill to swallow every morning. It breaks my heart, I really grew up thinking we were the Melting Pot of the world.

Same. I forgave the sins of the past because, in my mind, the country was striving to be better every day and not be like it was in the past. Turns out, America is just an abusive ex that will act nice for just long enough to be let back into the house to abuse everyone all over again.
