I think it's likely. He's both too young and too putty-like to make a good Republican candidate. He can't give that many handjobs at once. Though I don't think "loyalty" is really the word so much as expedient compliance.

I think Vance is cooked either way (Thiel muscle or not, the guy has no nationwide appeal if he doesn’t have a rigged system), and ultimately his power will come down to how he decides to react when people will be out in the streets celebrating on that day. Does he send the troops out, or home?
