Its because they are all deathly afraid of dying and figure if they can somehow kickstart the end of times right now they can skip the pain of dying and move right on to the eternal heaven thing

Having lived between the US and Asia recently -- I believe this is at the core of the US's embrace of fascism. A lot of Americans have not accepted their mortality, and they either want the rapture or they want to upload their consciousness and live on as the borg. It's that and the racism.

And then there's the techno fascist bros who think that they want to skip to the end times so that they can rule over the ashes

They all think they can somehow be uploaded to the cloud

VERY nice

one argued that undesirable and disabled folks should be turned into batteries or, more humanely, uploaded into a digital existence instead of getting to live like people. they're insane

They think the Matrix is real
