Didn't take long for the honeymoon to be over. The Libs will have a hard time keeping all those ABC (anybody but conservative) votes, next time round. We're being asked to make far too many compromises, to keep our country safe from the trump threat. Yuck.

Yep. The Trump excuse has worn thin for me. And did the second I read C-5. It screams of what Pierre was going to do - use the Emergency Act to take over all provincial resources so the federal government has full say. I'm worried that's coming for all but Alberta.

I take the trump threat very seriously, and we can't let our guard down while the current fascist regime remains in power. That threat trumps everything else for me right now. While I don't agree with all provisions of C-5, removing internal trade barriers does make a lot of sense to me.

I don't have any issue with the removal of internal trade barriers. And that's why the bill was ultimately split into two parts by the House so that the uncontroversial part could be passed while further examination of the rest was done by the House and then Senate.

And I take the Trump threats seriously too but fighting for our sovereignty includes fighting for the values that make us who we are. So while I agree we have to take any threats seriously, we cannot lose site of who we are and allow government to use it as a reason to railroad our rights.

The Libs are not a progressive party. That's the important role that the NDP so often plays. They hold the party in power to account, and remind us all of our Canadian values. Seeing them wiped out this time round was very disappointing.

Liberals are the party that repatriated our Constitution and enshrined treaty and Indigenous rights into the 1982 Constitution Act. They are the party that decriminalised homosexuality, decriminalised abortion, made same sex marriages legal...how are these not progressive policies, exactly?

Yes, they're progressive policies, by North American standards. I'm not suggesting the Libs can't do progressive things. But I see them as more centrist than truly progressive. They need the progressive left to hold their feet to the fire and make sure those things happen.

We need a serious NDP candidate that can win. Layton’s dead is still deeply affecting Canada. Why can’t they find a guy like him? Why didn’t they keep moving in his footstep? He was going to win a landslide.

Leah Gazan is the only current NDP that I have any confidence in and I think she'd be a kick ass leader.
