Alaska Beacon @alaskabeacon.com

At last week's state oil and gas conference, one of the executives in charge of developing the trans-Alaska gas pipeline project said he expects a key go/no-go decision by the end of the year. We know Alaskans are skeptical about the pipeline (and for good reason), but what do you think?

If I had to guess... It's quite likely this timeline slips and they promise the same thing in 2026. Also because it's an election year, the governor will try to corner the legislature into some urgent and fake litmus test vote on the issue. He'll be outmaneuvered. Again.

GOP members got hung up on the trans word. Now there's an investigation to see if any parts of the pipeline are different than before.

The federal government is not going to pay for it, the state doesn’t have the money to pay for it, and industry is here for a free ride, so they’re not paying either. But hey bill walker got a trip to china out of it or whatever.

I support developing things safely. I doubt that anything will be successful. The goal is to tank everything and claim ignorance or neglect to be the real problem.
