Brahms string quartet favorite recordings: tell me who you like. This brought on by an astonishingly great performance of the B flat Major Quartet, Op. 67, at the Banff International String Quartet Competition by the Poiesis Quartet. I have the Emerson set and erm I don't like it much.

Dudok Quartet Amsterdam, Novus Quartet. Both quartets go for a leaner, cleaner sound which I like.

Thanks! I will check them out. And I'm interested in additional recommendations! I assume that the ABQ is good in Brahms.
