As this excellent speech before the EU Parliament shows, she had a very firm grasp of the wider context and knew exactly how valuable the European idea was to prosperity and peace. I always enjoyed how the Queen colour-coded her outfits for the event! Nice shade of blue she's wearing here! I remember she wore the same shade, complete with yellow stars, for the opening of Parliament in 2017.
