Have you looked at Trump's recent polling? It's horrible, and it's not going to improve. *ANY* Democrat can beat Trump. It's ridiculous to claim that Newsom (or anyone else) is the only person who can beat him, especially 38 months out.

Newsom’s approval rating in California is 27%, one of the highest numbers he’s pulled in years, I’d be shocked if he can even win the nomination let alone beat Trump.

For that matter, why are so many of us just assuming that the Democratic nominee in the 2028 election will be facing off against Trump? Even if he somehow gets around the "constitutionally ineligible for a third term" thing he's an old man in declining health who might not even be ALIVE by 2028!
