I don’t think most Americans have the slightest clue what CDC does and how much they will miss it.
I don’t think most Americans have the slightest clue what CDC does and how much they will miss it.
That applies almost to the whole of the federal government. They only notice the government when it gets in they way of anything they want to do.
I think this applies to a lot of institutions in America. You get under the hood and all the sudden, its different.
Right at the beginning of flu season too…
I’ll start with Malaria
Many have ignored, forgotten or not been taught about how much public health science has improved and lengthened our lives. But we are about to find out if RFK’s mad destruction of HHS continues. Want a peek at “the before times”? Read the book or listen to this talk about smallpox in the US. 1/2

Did they not watch “Outbreak?”
You could replace CDC with nearly every agency and institution they are obliterating and it would still be a true statement.
They'd rather die before they find out...😂😂😂
As a friend of mine put it, the modern world is built on the backs of nerds you'll never hear about, working through Excels you'll never see
I think it's a George Eliot quote: "That things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number of nerds you'll never hear about, and worked faithfully through Excels you'll never see."
Sounds a bit updated, but carries the same meaning: “..for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been,
is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.” ― George Eliot, Middlemarch A very good quote - thank you.
