That is absolutely the wrong thing to do. You’re supposed to watch from a distance, and allow them to crawl to the water on their own.

It interferes with their natural development and behavior, disorients them, stresses them. They need to stretch their ligaments, tendons, muscles to prepare for swimming. They need to β€œimprint” the characteristics of their native beach, their memory guides them back, they return to nest when mature.
