Once again: the fact that academics have to do often the basic job of journalists (providing accurate information to the public, when it isn't even demystifying their claims) speaks volumes about the level of democratic crisis in this country (there is no democracy without a well informed public)

From what I can see, many journalists today don't appear to know what they don't know (Rumsfeld's "known unknowns"), and worse, don't seem to have any understanding that they can and should ask someone with subject matter expertise.

yeah, that's the cause (one of the causes) of democratic crisis! We really didn't learn anything from the Brexit referendum
