(this is also why it's important to not, say, yell at your dog for getting loose, and then continuing to yell as you approach them. don't want them thinking human approaching = bad scary yell times!! it has saved my ASS when a client broke his harness, too!)
The only time I even remotely worry about Watson running away is if I am not there and he gets outside somehow and goes looking for me. Other than that he is generally glued to my hip when we're out and about and even if he goes off snootin' in the woods behind my parent's place, he comes if I call

Its heartwarming to think that they can go on a magical 90's kids movie-style adventure to come find you buuuut real life does not work that way unfortunately lol
once in a great while it has worked out that way (a husky once jumped out of his owner's truck at a rest stop and then just. walked himself home. for weeks!) statistically, far more likely to end in tragedy, tho
