I saw a Danny Kaye film titled The 5 Penny's. A biopic about a well known musician whose little girl got polio. Wonderful film, as he was such a lovely man. And the story just broke my heart. 😔

Good Ole Satchmo. Thanks for this. Love Danny Kaye, my favorite "Weirdsmobile", as Bing called him in White Xmas! 🥰
He was an irrepressible force of nature, just brilliant. And Danny Kaye I adored too. Never forgot this achingly lovely film.
If u go on youtube , type in interviews with Danny Kaye. There are some fabulous & funny ones from the 70's. Absolutely loved him. And I am 47. Most people I know have zero idea who he was! 😆
I've watched many over the years - got nearly a couple of decades on you 👵🥴 UNICEF's first goodwill ambassador, perfect embodiment of Hans Christian Andersen. Ugly Duckling can still bring a tear to these old peepers.
Indeed. My favorite Danny Kaye film of course is The Court Jester! The pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle. The chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! 🤣 & the lovely Mildred Natwick, Angela Lansbury & Glynis John's starred in it as well. And Basil Rathbone! 🥰
The old Hollywood star system was unforgiving and cruel. But it did platform some truly extraordinarily talented people.
U r right of course. Terrible system, especially for child stars like Liz Taylor & Shirley Temple. Btw, did u know that Basil Rathbone was an expert swordsmen & personally taught Danny for the film? He said Danny got just as good as him! 😆🤣
That does ring a faint bell, aye. Judy Garland was a pitiable example. They'd also insist dancers sang & vice versa.
