One major benefit of levelling the playing field is that it makes identifying people with world-changing abilities or ideas (lost Einsteins/Jordans) much easier.

(With the exception of some variation in preference) if you have vastly different outcomes for different demographics you either haven’t covered all the factors that provide equality of opportunity or you have to ascribe some sort of demographic superiority... which I’m sure you don’t want to do?

Completely agree! There are several schools in my area, to which insanely rich people send their dim children. Those students get unimaginable educational resources, while very talented students in poorer schools get no resources at all. It is frustrating to imagine the intellects we are simply not
