"Guns don't kill people; people kill people." Cars don't kill people on their own either, but we have tests, registration, age restrictions, safety measures, and insurance. Do the same thing with guns. See? Easy.

I have been advocating this for years! You should have to have both a license with restrictions (full mental evaluation) and insurance to own a gun, period! Also for GOD’s sake ban assault weapons throughout America. They are only for mass murder.

Where I come from a gun license requires that you have no criminal record, to be 18+ and to have a secure gun safe where the firearms are to be kept at all times when not in use. We have one of the lowest levels of gun crime in the world.

I always thought that was a reasonable comparison. So many gun deaths among children are caused by the improper storage and handling of guns. We need to be sure that people who insist on having guns are made to be responsible for them.
