They also never show the left graph (which makes the - perfectly normal - spike trend clear), but rather, prefer to truncate it to the right graph.

Plus, this is only counting Likes. And—speaking for myself at least—for every post I Like, I read 75-100 others. seems like an odd metric to use as a benchmark.

At a certain point it's just statistical malpractice and part of why stats gets a lot of flak. Straight up misrepresenting the info as if the totality supports their given hypothesis when in actuality they're distorting data. Makes me so mad.
