I remember studying in college (poli sci BA) that it only takes about 30% of the population to get behind a social movement for the movement to be successful. This is bc others who silently agree but don’t want lose anything then feel safe bandwagoning. Some need 30% of wp to show deplores
That liberal democracy is not on the chopping block. That going back to segregation ain’t fucking happening. That white supremacist will not fucking win (again). I think that number alone would then get the “ centrists/moderates” onboard as they are passive
That 30% number sounds right when we consider that the hardcore, right wing MAGA types are approximately 30% of the U.S. population. Unfortunately, they are over-represented in govt. because of gerrymandering and all states getting two senators no matter how small their population is.
Trying to figure out how I help us get there. One reason i struggle is that I don't know - or at least don't have relationships & sway with - many "deplorables" or on-the-fence people. I need to switch my focus to those who don't like him but aren't engaged. (Writing this out helped me- thanks :) )
Yeah do that. I feel like if you are white the best thing you can do is talk to other wp and get yall to feel empowered. Like no you don’t have to submit to this! Yes you can be the change you want to see. Yes you can call out other wp being racist. No it will not kill you to do so! Etc
And I also think idk maybe wp learning about the history of wp that stood up and did the right thing in the face of danger and death might help with the passive problem? Like the white civil rights activists that died or got beat for doing the right thing.
Like that is good white history and a legacy that is ignored because it doesn’t benefit white supremacy. Like be apart of THAT legacy
