Fox Host Grills Governor Over Military Awards He Falsely Claimed to Have Received
Thanks for sharing, Tuck. I'm new to Gov. Moore but after further investigation, I don't believe it was intentional but he still loses points with me because he never corrected it until it was too late. We should ALL have integrity and accountability when we make mistakes.
Wes Moore apologizes for βhonest mistakeβ in claiming a Bronze Star by Cheyanne M. Daniels - 08/29/24 (The Hill) Following Excerpt:
While serving overseas with the Army, I was encouraged to fill out an application for the White House Fellowship by my deputy brigade commander,β Moore said. βIn fact, he helped me edit it before I sent it in. At the time, he had recommended me for the Bronze Star.
He told me to include the Bronze Star award on my application after confirming with two other senior-level officers that they had also signed off on the commendation.β
Lt. Gen. Michael Fenzel, a mentor to Moore, confirmed to the Times that he told Moore that he had been approved for the medal and to include it in his application. Fenzel told the paper that he only learned this week that Moore had never been awarded the Bronze Star.
βIn the military, there is an understanding that if a senior officer tells you that an action is approved, you can trust that as a fact,β Moore said Thursday. βThat is why it was part of the application, plain and simple." I still feel he should have had written confirmation, at least.
I canβt tell you what happened in his case. But I will tell you I was once 4 years overdue for my yearly evaluation reports. It was fixed when the guard found they couldnβt they deploy me until they were done. And they wanted to deploy me. So yeah, itβs not great but shit happens.
