That's the optimistic reading. The pessimistic one is, America tried sweeping structural and social problems under the rug, which now horribly backfires. Remember: People voted for Trump, while all facts were on the table. He won EVERY swing state! Not just leaders. 77 million (!) people.
Of course I will eat my words, because here in Germany we are on the road.
Mind you, people who won't go away. They will inhabit the US for decades, and are now encouraged by a role model that lies, robs, kills, harrasses, belittles weaker people and defies any human compassion. Those people came from somewhere. Or as Joseph de Maistre put it:
