I think even if you asked them (not using my description of them) they would say they were either centrists/moderates. They would not say they were left of center in the slightest.

Yeah American lefties love to pretend that literally any other American uses the term “liberal” in the classic European sense instead of just as a synonym for “left” on a very rudimentary left-right spectrum because they only know how to cargo cult historical European leftism

Well, in their defense, liberals aren't left of center. In Europe, liberals are tht center right and they share basically the same views as Democrats. D And historically, they love trying to negotiate with and appease fascists only to lose ground to them.
