spent most of labor day weekend at the emergency vet as pepper had to get surgery after swallowing a string yesterday she got to come home after two nights at the animal hospital. she was a very brave girl

We'll do anything for our pets - and sometimes it seems like the vets know that. I am guessing this set you back 6-7k. My 13 y/o cat racked up a 5k emergency bill last month. Their lives are priceless - but it feels like there is something seriously wrong with the price of pet care.

yeah, bill was about $6k. I do have pet insurance which will reimburse 80% of it with a $250 deductible, hopefully there won’t be any issues with filing a claim. I’ve never had to use it before

that is huge - you should feel like a genius for having pet insurance. I don't have it on any of my cats - would have saved me thousands so far I figure.
