The Irish actively begged to be considered white because they didnt want to be lumped in with non-whites despite being oppressed by the same people. So they became the guard dogs of the rich white people. Why do you think there are so many Irish cops? Just licking the boots of those whites in power
For the same reason there were lots of Irish fireman. It was dangerous and low paid but came with a pension. Italians used to also be non-white but they took a different route to “whiteness “.
