No one can prove an actual deal took place, but the tacit agreement sure seems to be: - Foreign interests help the GOP build gangster authoritarianism in the U.S. - GOP stops the U.S. interfering with those interests’ foreign policy objectives

The U.S. won the Cold War in 45 years, and then lost the peace in 25. The post-Soviet mafia state was a better Russian export than Marxism-Leninism ever was. The GOP was a very good customer because their problem with the Soviet state was the (professed) leftism, not the tyranny. (2/x)
