It must be respected along with all other laws and acts of all previous Congress. The current congress does have the power to rescind the laws of previous Congresses and to amend the Constitution, but they must do so formally. They can not simply ignore that actions of previous Congresses.
The responsibility of the Judicial branch of Government is like a trustee that must insure that the legacies of all previous Congresses are respected by both the President and the current Congress. Laws created by the current congress may be overturned. Actions by the President stopped.
Our current President and his appointees do not understand the relationship between the 3 branches or the President's role in government. They falsely assume that the President has authority analogous to a business owner. He does not.
Like a maverick corporate executive that assumes the authority of the owner, and contradicts the policies of the owner.
Congress has chosen to ignore this President's actions which contradict the policies of all Congressional legacies. Congress cannot just simply ignore these actions. If Congress chooses to support these actions, Congress must formally rescind these legacies and/or amend the Constitution.
It seems that The President, his cabinet, his appointees and the GOP majority in Congress have espoused a free libertarian, pro business philosophy. Yet their actions and inactions as government officials contradict the business ethics that they claim to believe in.
If they, as business owners, had executives who behaved as mavericks contradicting their policies as the current President has, they would fire that executive immediately. If President Trump has any business ethics, he will fire himself (resign).
If he does not have business ethics, then those free libertarian, pro business people who support him should be very, very scared. A tyrant in government will be a tyrant in business. It will be the end of the free market, not the beginning.
