more like they need 100 years between each attempt so anybody living through the previous mass tariff depression was dead.

Pandemic every 100 years… tariffs every 100 years. Has anyone looked into causality? Maybe the viruses are causing brain swelling.
You're close.
And the people alive 100 years later won't take the previous collapses seriously, so it happens all over again.
It would help if these details of the Great Depression were taught.
Exactly. It also doesn't help that history books in K-12 are behind bc neoliberals are smitten with the concept of post-history.
Neoliberals are best known to us in the US as MAGAs, or maggots. They’re not smitten with a concept of post-history; they want to erase the past so they can repeat its atrocities behind the mask of same lies used previously: false populism, racism as “accountability,” misogyny as Christianity, etc.
The concept of post-history also entails rewriting and even expunging parts of history to make way for Christofacist power to take control, at least in the US, whether they're aware of it or not. Post-history also needs censorship to be realized.
Trashy people and their trashy notions, I say. I remember a time when we scoffed at their nonsense and reminded them or reality. Now, people want to bow to them and their worship of idiocy, a vengeful god, and harming others. 😖
Sometimes, I wonder if this is what Martin Luther would have fought against.
Not really. He just didn’t want the Christian church selling indulgences and died a happy Catholic lad after the reformation. 🤷🏻♀️
I might have to re-visit his history tbh. Thanks for the push.
You’re welcome. He never intended to form an offshoot religion and opposed its creation from what I remember learning about his successful effort to reform the church. That’s also why the Lutheran faith is almost identical to the Catholic one. 🤷🏻♀️
