It's bizarre. I think they feel violence is just going to happen like thunderstorms do so you can't really do anything about it. I don't accept that hopefully most people don't either.

The US, en masse, has accepted the >40K humans each year dying in automobile crashes. We have become inured to this violence. I think for many, it's the same with guns -OR- they prioritize 2nd amendment rights over the "sanctity of human life" they will talk about out the other side of their mouth.
Yeah, the collective ignorance about the dangers of car culture is really something to behold.
