"According to immigration scholar Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, the measure also provides an additional $45 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain migrants, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion." 🤯🤯🤯
Concentration camp funds. Gas chambers cost a lot to build
Timely! Thank you for bringing up these past events and how citizens reacted to them.
There's my last gay nerve !!
I live not too far from there. It’s real.
oh dear god
It’s amazing how the culture in Ga changes just a few counties away. I live in a medical center based oasis of blue. Three counties up and it’s more rural.
glad you found your oasis
amazing
Every morning I wake up and wonder what corrupt and destructive stuff they’re going to do today.
Interesting and important facts here about the "Big Ugly Bill" -- this is too important NOT to read. :-(
💙🇺🇸💙
We’ve descended into a dark and cruel place. We’re not coming back.
It’s all just so horrible.
Let's connect the dots: -- flurry of unconstitutional executive actions -- DOJ lawyer telling subordinates to say "fuck you" to Court orders -- a Supreme Court ruling (on an emergency basis) that greatly restricts a key judicial remedy -- efforts to limit written communications wapo.st/4kjmqsn
Huge budget cuts in so many places causing extreme suffering. Hospitals closing just one example. Isn't this kind of an analogy to placing sanctions on rogue countries, i. e. Withholding money as either a form of punishment or an attempt to shape behavior? Retaliation from Donald's handlers?
History sure does rhyme.
Unfortunately the history lesson won’t apply if there are no midterm elections. A supremely unpopular fascist dictator can’t afford to let an honest election happen. And after this bill passes he will be supremely unpopular.
When does the real revolution start?
Like a General Strike?
Absolutely
Apparently greater levels of pain have to become real for many people to wake them from their stupor.
The sycophants of Thune’s tribune voted in favor of Trump’s big ugly bill because they are terrified of their dear leader’s retribution. Consider this: those mealy mouthed individuals guard this country. Heaven help us all.
The Democratic Party is in a state of paralysis.
Just when they need to be dynamic and organised! 😡
I'm watching PBS live stream of the Dems reading The Bill. ☠️ They could at least read with expression... Hell, reading it dramatically would've been AWESOME and held it up longer. Instead, they've been rattling it out like a 3rd grader trying to impress with their fluency... 😐
They’re making the point that many Republicans will vote for it and then say they didn’t read it or they didn’t know (fill in the blank) was in it. The Dems are not going to let them get away with that BS. The reading is not for dramatic effect.
Phew! I was wondering why they were reading it... 😐
Why in the world are they reading it at night when almost no one is able to hear it??
Why are the Republicans not reading it to dems?
“Raise less corn and more hell”. Well, I think that the tariffs and loss of USAID took care of the corn. So now, it’s raise hell.
If the dems can get out of their own way, a blue wave may be coming. We’ll see.
WTF with Collins and Murkowski? 😡 It makes me wonder if Collins is going to retire and voted for it to give Tillis cover to vote against it (pathetic that she, once again, put politics/party over doing the right thing for constituents). If she does run again, I hope Maine finally rids itself of her.
It wasn’t some “noble” move to help Tillis after all, since he’s the one not running for reelection now. 🤷♀️
Nothing new to their voicing one thing, voting whatever the Republican men tell them to do. Tradbishes
Now he is lying again about not deporting farm workers so conservative farming states don’t revolt again his budget bill thehill.com/homenews/adm...
I also think "the system is rigged" is a good starting place for the political resistance. That resonates. Keep showing immigrants getting tackled next to Bezos' wedding photos.
Don’t forget that term has been used consistently since 2020 election. It would make the dems look like copy cat idiots.
And why Democrats are not using "rigged" over and over again is beyond me. I'm going to get a Gadsden flag t-shirt or hat. It's damn time we take that back too.
So great, I'm geeking out. I think: 1890 ~ 2018 1892 ~ 2020 But then we voted the dopes BACK IN; change finally happened +5 later. In 1901, we just got lucky- that "damn cowboy" slipped into the presidency when Hannah couldn't see through the smoke-filled room. Don't think Vance will be the same...
Thank you for keeping us informed every single day. I am sick about the expansion of ICE and Homeland Security. This cannot stand.
When you want to destroy our democracy, you put your money where oppression of your citizens is needed. And the corporate media let's it float by.
Lead you calls with that. They are arming an uncontrolled regime against Americans How long before they come for the congress members?
We are in dire need of a new square deal here.
Beside making the wealthy more money and taking away health insurance a great deal of money is being spent to detain and deport immigrants. There will be no one working in the fields, construction, hotel and restaurants and other jobs low-paying jobs. Our economy will collapse.
Agree. Who will work these jobs? Billions spent on deportation is just hate personified. Granting immigrants citizenship would be the best way forward. The money spent on deportation could be spent on education and infrastructure. But I rant. Hope for the midterm vote...
And it's not just immigrants being kidnapped, detained, and sometimes trafficked out of the country. They are victimizing more and more citizens who happen to be brown. It won't stop until everyone is a white supporter of this regime.
Love the hope of this letter—thank you! But the image of subjugating alligators evokes psychopathic children who torture pets Surprised not mentioned republicans increased advantage w senate #s by admitting bogus new states, 1890s Or the lucky if tragic route by which Roosevelt became president
And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on, and on and on and on... yet we are today resolute. Always forever resolute.
I’ve never felt so helpless, angry & frustrated in my life. How’s it go? God, grant me the wisdom to know the difference between…?
Unfortunately for us, unlike in 1890, scotus has also handed dictatorial powers over to a raving lunatic. I therefore don’t see a major democratic landslide in the midterms like you describe happening then. Democrats MIGHT take control of the House, but only barely. The senate is out of the question
Seems time for people with servant leadership skills to run on an Independent ticket. I think the establishment Dems are in much more trouble than they realize. Independent is usually a joke, but I don't think we're a two party system anymore. We want a government BY the people and FOR the people.
We have a few one-party system in this country: the $$$ Party.
“Let Them Eat Tweets: How the Right Rules in an Age of Extreme Inequality” prof details how the Republican Party serves its plutocratic masters to a degree without precedent in modern global history doubling down on a truly radical elite-benefiting economic agenda. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/25/o...
So, America has been here before. America is repeating itself by repeating History. Am I hearing this correctly that the Americans who invested not only in themselves but also the Stock Market, will fair well all up-to the next CRASH?
Between 1929 going backwards to 1890, that’s 39 years of building wealth inequality the first time. My wife and I are retired. During our working years, we invested not only in ourselves, but modestly in the Stock Market.
We have maybe 25 years of life remaining and by my calculations we should be fine all the way to the next CRASH. Ah, such is life. You 77 Million Dumb-Fuck Americans, I have no sympathy for you nor your children, nor your children’s’ children. You get what you voted for.
This budget is a declaration of war against Americans
Since the Bush years, nearly every measure that Republicans want to pass that have minimal support from the general public has been passed during the dark of night. When you're dismantling democracy, the lower visibility benefits them.
Don't let the GOP get away with their fuzzy math. Continue to call your senators & Reps to let them know you know the real amount the debt and deficit will increase and the real harm the cuts will do to the most vulnerable. Last night Musk posted on X again opposing the big ugly bill. He's right.
Yeah, that's working... 🤦♀️
thank you
I hope that the ostentatious wedding of Besos spurs the public against this ridiculous trend that favors the extreme wealth of monopolists!
