I'm being glib here but United States as a country voted for pain and unfortunately that pain affects those who voted against it.
So the millions of people who didn't vote for it just get fucked and that's cool and good
Yes, that is how voting works. Is this your first encounter with the concept of collective action? You don't get a bespoke government like ordering off a menu; *other people* get to influence and override you on the subject of what government you both live under.
And in this case, enough of them chose pain, so pain is what we shall have. All that's left is to decide -who- gets hurt; -whether- people get hurt is not an open question any longer.
Psychopathic shit
It's neither cool nor good but everyone is going to be hurt and unfortunately that means that priorities need to be made for scarce resources. It sucks that we're at the level of triage but the federal government is trying to get as many americans killed as possible.
I think a big part of our problem is that a lot of people aren't able to deal with the suffering and ugliness we're facing and have decided that denial is virtuous and acknowledging our awful reality is a moral failing.
Simply declaring, "No one should suffer!" is then preferable to, "The suffering is here, that's an unavoidable fact. So, how should we respond to this fact?"
It would be great if people realized that capitalism was bad and that the real enemy is the top 1% and rose up to establish a new utopia but to be quite frank I do not think that is going to happen before Michigan needs to start thinking about the 2027 healthcare budget.
Ah yes. So we'll never do anything because now isn't the time and everything will somehow get better magically. Beautiful!
I didn't say any of that.
