If I had bass telling me there's no giant monster below me in the lake below I would feel so reassured when swimming there. The horny and suddenly communicative salmon in the rivers would be annoying but that's a sacrifice I'd be willing to make.

2. I live in Canada, so as much as I love goats and dancing, fish makes more sense. We have a lot of fresh water here and those bodies of water are an environmental bellwether.
