Damn I was hoping to learn what the word meant from that but I'm unsure whether it helped... Like do you ever, as a dictionary, put "doesn't mean anything" as a definition and ask yourself what you're even doing

(I have to be serious though and admit that "doesn't mean anything" IS in fact informative, and insofar as a dictionary is there to list words people say and explain why they said them it's a perfectly fine & helpful definition to include. Though at that point you probably want KnowYourMeme instead)

Kinda what I was thinking lmao I was listening to NPR the other day and they were talking about it too. They said it “can mean a bunch of things“ but also “doesn’t really mean anything.” And it’s like……what?? So why add it then?

Reading those usage examples gave me cancer.

Learning about language from a bottoms up perspective in my sociolinguistics courses at college makes stuff like this very fun to think about
