It was "not* widely known that an influential minority of the Christian right wants to strip American women of voting rights. Mainstream media has for years been suppressing journalism covering this radical segment of American Christianity that's at the heart of Christian Nationalism.

Christian Reconstructionists gained so much influence in part because few Americans know that this movement even exists, let alone what its policy objectives are. By the 1980s the CR movement had penetrated elite US evangelical circles & the elites subsequently pushed its ideas to the masses...

In 2014, Politico ran a good piece on the truth behind the rise of the religious right. The CR movement is part of that.

My born-again christian sister was a part of this initial wave calling believers to take leadership roles in gov't. It motivated her to obtain a seat on our rural school board. You can bet the farm that the true agenda was not known to her, as she would never have agreed to disempowering women. 1/2

The irony is that she couldn't see that she belonged to an evangelical church whose entire teachings were completely patriarchal. *sigh* 2/2

Their Christianity is Antinomian. Accept Christ as Savior & all past, Present, FUTURE sins are forgiven w/o further repentance. No Laws, Commandments, Ethics, Morals matter. Go forth & steal, lie, kill, abuse, exploit, rape or any other torture, enslave, pillage, plunder. Heaven & Earth are yours.

The Bible actually considers the continued unrepentant behaviour you've listed to be evidence of not being saved. It's very clear on this.

I know. But Antinomians have crafted their own orthodoxy. That freedom from accountability has served them well in this life. As to the pain it has caused others? They don't trouble themselves with any of that.

"As to the pain it has caused others? They don't trouble themselves with any of that." This is even more blatant proof, really. www.biblegateway.com/passage/?sea...

Disagree. Few Americans WANT to know this movement exists, and historically, when you tell them, they call you a crazy conspiracy theory, anti-patriotic lib. Choosing to feign ignorance isn’t the same as not knowing about something.

The discussion here is about the leadership, not denial (feigned or not) among their followers.

The leadership is lying. Why are you so determined to pretend that Americans and the leaders they choose are just uninformed and naive?

Also you’re the one who said “few Americans even know that this movement exists.” So is it leaders who are the naive, ignorant ones or most Americans??

They’re christofascists. There is nothing about them that has anything to do with Christ’s teachings. They’re a political organization hell bent on seizing permanent power, accumulating wealth at the expense of the rest of humanity and they don’t value life.

It's widely known among churchgoers. It's hard to find churches that don't preach this. It's not that radical if you're a Christian. It's mostly normative in church culture.

I wouldn't start call them a minority of the Christian right until you find some evidence of that. It seems like a majority to me, but maybe I've just lived in all the wrong states.
