Funny fact is no car company has put more money into sabotaging EVs than Toyota.
They said more could be gained more quickly by first adopting hybrids, then plugin hybrids, then EVs. Turns out they were right. That was a smarter transition strategy. Going straight to EVs we’re now hitting an adoption wall.
Toyota spend obscene amounts of money lobbying Govts against emissions regs. Hybrids suck. EV tech despite all the sabotage is soaring. Fossil fuel supply chain exists because of decades of obscene subsidisation. That should have been used for clean tech not corrupt industry capture.
Or, it’s just possible they were right. All these years later, while EV is ultimately the right destination, sales are a tiny fraction of where they need to be. Much more good would have been achieved by following their transition strategy. We thought they were bullshitting us, but they were right.
At least in the US it probably doesn't help that the current regime and many uneducated folks on their side of the political spectrum think it's some weird moral issue to burn oil. Toyota is behind on the EV game, esp as compared to Chinese companies, simple as
All those corrupt grubs should be in jail for what they have done. Inc Toyota execs.
