There was a tsunami of factors against her and against Democratic candidates - the struggle is btw those who want a pluralistic representative democracy and those who want blood and soil white ethnostate. With a bunch of clueless swing voters in the middle who vote based in vibes. 1/

With a media dedication to balance as opposed to truth it truly is bleak for anyone who cares about facts and details. Even when my preferred side wins, it looks like a fluke or short term reaction 2/end

But the media wasn't balanced at all. They held Biden and Harris to a MUCH higher standard and ignored all Trump's horribleness.

Kamala's team shouldn't have muzzled Walz. Mocking the Republicans was working, and they stopped for some reason. Newsom is picking it back up now finally.

Fundamentally, a country where things like that make a difference when the alternative is fascism, is a country that will fall into fascism no matter what. You may squeeze a victory once and but it is not sustainable. Every campaigns makes mistakes and people forget if they win…

Yeah, it's sad we're in this state, but the Supreme Court put us here.

And voters put us here by giving Rs the Senate in 2014. It always comes down to voters choice (until full blown dictatorship)

I think coddling voters is at least a contributing factor. But also, what we see here now is happening in UK and EU as well: rabid anti-immigration anti-other sentiment by people raised to feel entitled. It’s not this candidate or that strategy. It’s more fundamental, and alarmingly so

I understand the impulse to blame x or y mistake as opposed to fuck 50 of my fellow citizens are bad people. The latter is a lot more depressing and a lot harder to fix. Which is why l am so despondent- l think it’s the latter

Several years ago I watched a documentary about Steve Bannon. He has gone all over the world peddling right-wing politics.

…if they lose people obsess about this or that “mistake” as if it made a difference. I think it’s like obsessing over that one an extra ice-cream eaten before a heart attack killed you. The clogging of the arteries is the fundamental reason, not the last ice-cream.

100%. I agree. Im not trying to say it was a fair contest. I'm just noting we lost it, and need to come up with ways to win despite the unfairness. I like what newsom is doing now by mocking them.

I'm enjoying Newsom's mocking. Also, I REALLY need laughter right now and he's providing that.

What l mean by “balanced” is that they feel like they have to make candidates equally “bad” even when one is actually objectively better. Fake balance

I know. I don’t have a consistent framework right now, as anyone reading my posts can tell. One thing l am firm on is that criticism of Dems is harmful. They’re the one boat out of MAGA Island. Poking holes in it harms us all. Any criticism should be private.

I also think that’s important to grant voters the dignity of agency- and judge them for it. It seems to me everyone treats voters as children and not citizens responsible for their bad choices. And the same with Republicans.

I am accepting of those who say “l was wrong l will do better”, but not those who blame Dems or media or whatever for being “mislead”. When data is like this, it’s not about being misled. It’s either complicity or willful ignorance.
