I had one, first time my mom bought me a new coat rather than a hand-me-down. I thought it was very stylish!

Yes I had one too
A lot of people ! The coats with a - sorry, sounds better in Dutch - 'houtje touwtje' closure (wood string closure)
Yes! My coat had that.
Kep er een
Zal wel zijn! Om de harde zeebries te counteren 😁
Exactly
Ik zat wel eens in het zonnetje in de tuin, en dacht ik ga even de sloepenrace kijken langs het kanaal. Daar aangekomen was het gewoon koud. Ik weer terug een trui halen.
Windy? That makes such a difference (by the way, when I open Google Translate, it just assumes I want Dutch. Usually correct 😄)
A bit, and the seawater is cold. It's water before the locks.
The race sounds like fun to see, though. And I love the word "sloepenrace" 😊
🥰
It may sound better, but it *looks* impossible.
To pronounce? 🙂
I only speak English. If I listen to Dutch, I hear many sounds and words that are not at first moment recognizable and then the occasional words that sound as if I'm hearing English, even American English. But written they look quite different. "Huis" is a good example
For an English speaker, if we tried to directly phonetically pronounce the letters as they would sound in English, it would be very tricky
All double Dutch to me!
Yes. Looks hard. But the actual pronunciation is easier (for us) than many Dutch phrases. It just *look* very intimidating to me.
