Catholics are the worst offenders here. They love an authoritarian. Also raised Catholic, i have first-hand knowledge.

Catholics? I was raised evangelical then later confirmed Catholic. Though evangelicals come from a democratic congregational tradition they are raised to be gullible, are less educated and poorer than other groups. They are easily manipulated by charlatans, oligarchs, and now an authoritarian.
