If yes, then why? If no, then why?
Just about anything can be headcanoned very much like Awdry sneaked in his beloved Bloomer model, albeit in a pretty lazy way. Ultimately consider a GNR single too separate from the late NWR to make sense compared to a more localised railway like the Padarn's stashed loco, but you can hoop jump it.
This is something I want to know right now, how realistic is it for a GNR Stirling Single to be a Sodor resident?
