alito, roberts and thomas also haven't taken any steps towards retirement. the latter two have their eyes on tenure records. if democrats can take the senate in 2026, odds are that democrats will replace all of them i too worry about trump replacing them but we've only got a year until the midterms
I guess with this scenario I just really worry about Alito and Thomas retiring and Trump and co ramming through replacements in the lame duck session of Congress and then we are back at the problem of having to wait. I hope you are right about them being arrogant enough to not though.

Okay so let me ask then. What do you propose we do? Win the Presidency and Senate for the next decade until one of them dies? That seems unrealistic and also is not an immediate solution to the problem of the SC stripping away rights and protections right now.
If Dems win the presidency and Senate in 28 but don’t have the margins to impeach and convict Republican justices, what do you propose they do? I guess that’s what I want an answer from you about cause I agree with you about the problems of court packing but do you have a possible alternative?
replacing alito, thomas and roberts when they vacate the court if they retire in the lame duck, then there's only one option left. But they haven't done that yet, so let's keep our options open.
