would love these people to explain what we should do when someone is raped or sexually assaulted
would love these people to explain what we should do when someone is raped or sexually assaulted
They have two modes, "Let's talk to the rapist and ask them to agree to a list of boundaries" and, "lynch mobs."
they advocate for restorative justice, which imo incorrectly adopts a one-size-fits-all approach, even for serious offenses, and pressures victims into accepting outcomes they may not actually want
i mean that was a rhetorical question i know what the answer is and... uhh... it's so fucking nonsensical as to be actually offensive
I think ultimately they assume if everyone’s material needs are met (because we defunded the police?) that there won’t be any crime, so you don’t have to think seriously about what society would actually do
And we know this would work, because, as we know, rich people dont commit crimes.
yeah if someone professed this opinion to me IRL they're getting slapped in the face lol
Okay but does a criminal justice system not pressure victims into accepting outcomes they may not actually want?
And if it isn’t that what they advocate for is the victims family just lynching the alleged perpetrator.
you know, at least that is *something*, "restorative justice" is a nothingburger
