I don't think they were violent to the point it would justify *snipers on campuses*. It's just Usonians being Usonians: solving problems with guns and even more violence Placing snipers on rooftops was a bit of an overkill that didn't sit well with some people. In the context of Gaza/Israel
You couldn't tell at the time how the protests will turn. People did fear for their life. It gave the Republicans a lot of votes. The protest Should have been conducted in a much more organized, non violent, civil resistence manner, focused on a beneficial outcome, not on rage.

Better ask Jewish students (and some professors, too) who feared for their life at the time. Some of them, life long progressive liberals, voted for Republicans at the 2024 election. something they've never imagined they'll do.

I can't give any example of actual aggressive events prior to placing snipers. Afterwards it gets murky because it could be argued that their presence mitigated it But what I think about it is irrelevant. Their presence was seen by Democrat voters as a contradiction and costem Dems votes
