The cheering reaction has nothing to do with being inured to violence and everything to do with the asshole who was killed having profited hugely on the pain, suffering, and deaths of others.

Could argue all the school shootings inured society to the violence, then top it off by saying nothing could be done about it either. But now it's one CEO who could be seen to have some responsibility for the pain and suffering of others in the world and it's not met with the same level tragedy.
