False dilemma. These aren't the guys who created this character, either. And it's not like the quality has always been teriffic from IP rights holders. Quite the disappointing opposite, in many cases. Does it matter at all to fans who gets their money for quality content?
To each their own, but I doubt A.A. Milne or E.H. Shepard would be very happy (nor are their families) to see a Winnie The Pooh Ace Murderer movie, but because of public domain here we are. Quantity and availability isn’t quality, either.
They sold the rights to Disney decades ago. So, their opinion would be moot in any case. But several creators' families have expressed dislike of what Disney did with their ancestor's stuff anyway. Create, get your family paid, tell them to get over what happens from then on.
