Question: is there a good book (or books) that looks at the connection between the development of democratic systems and the development of certain technologies — i.e., the printing press? One of those things that’s mentioned offhand often, but curious if there’s a deep study.

This kind of analysis is the basis of my undergrad degree and I am now deeply curious about this question. My senior paper was on how live tv changed warfare, ie gulf one. Super interesting. #gatech is awesome.

If you want to talk to someone, Stuart Sherman at Fordham would be a good source. Very knowledgeable about 17th century documentary forms including newspapers, newsletters, and attempts to control them (focused on UK).
