Side note: The lawmaker in question was the author of a bill to to censure the Rt. Rev. Mariann Budde, the Episcopal Bishop of Washington, for preaching a sermon to Trump on his first day in office that asked the president to “have mercy” on immigrants and trans people. (It never left committee.)
That was being said in TX when I left in 2016! The conspiracy theorists were feasting on Fox News stories and gossip. What had been humble Christian friends became something else entirely.

He can try to push a religious system of law on this country, but I think there are enough Americans who don’t believe that bullshit and don’t want anything like what’s going on in the Muslim countries where there is Sharia law. No rights for women. Etc. etc. Fuck that.
