My latest remake analysis for @bloody-disgusting.com investigates how a sleazy 1970s slasher became a slapdash 2000s supernatural remake. Tobe Hooper's TOOLBOX MURDERS (2004) cares too much about distancing itself from Dennis Donnelly’s THE TOOLBOX MURDERS (1978), which ends up tanking the film.
I didn't hate this movie, but BLACK CHRISTMAS 2006 comes off as CITIZEN KANE in comparison. And man, do I LURVE the SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE remake! (Please don't watch TOOLBOX MURDERS 2. SOOOOO BAD.)
Slumber Party Massacre remake is such a perfect example of how to modernize something through both critique and respect. So many remakes can learn a lesson. Oh, don't worry, I am in NO rush to watch anything else Toolbox hhaha.
Oh, yeah, the SPM remake is my favorite of the entire franchise. It's so much better than it needed to be. I still need to see the director's KILLER BODY COUNT on Tubi.

The Banana Splits Movie is a top 20 horror movie for me. Feel bad for the show's fans, but it is a bloody blast.

Big fan of Toolbox Murders. The kills in the in the DVD deleted scenes are crazy. Love Coffin Baby. The sequel is TRASH.
I vaguely remember kind of liking it because I thought it had some good moments where the killer burst into frame. I also vaguely remember a plot point similar to Ghostbusters. That’s all I got.
It has Angela Bettis so I owned watched and adored this film.
