The Russo-Ukrainian war started at 4.30 AM on February 27th 2014 when Russian troops took control of the Crimean Parliament building in Simferopol. The invasion of Crimea was followed by the invasion of Donbass in March 2014. The war has been going on ever since.

Exactly, Zelensky's not gambling with WWIII, he's fighting it on our behalf. You might argue it started on 1st August 2008 when Russian backed separatists started fighting with Russian support in Georgia.
Tolerance to putin aggression only increases Putin appetite for aggression. Indecisiveness of West and slow move only hurts more. Why we didn't learn this.
I will never forget that day when the monster showed its teeth, attacking a neighbouring sovereign state, wanting to "destroy fascism" and a whole string of ludicrous propaganda. Since then I have invested time in convincing westerners that putin is, and never will be a friend. He is a monster.
