In an effort to dig out of depression, even temporarily, I went to the space-themed coffee shop downtown and as they were closing, the owner (a woman my age) came out and introduced herself to me and we had a nice talk about the city & all that happens here.
These little convos & connections save me every time.
Then I remembered there is a big-ass lake so I went for a walk there, met some old fishermen whose accents are *very* Calcasieu Parish. Helped my mood tremendously.
Now I’m at my university library, looking out the window at rows of trees and an arroyo (or whatever they call them here) for bayou overflow.
I wish I hadn’t had a fire last week.
